The government of Iran has launched a series of drone and missile strikes against United States military and diplomatic targets across the Middle East, dramatically escalating the regional conflict involving Israel and Washington.
The retaliatory attacks were reported on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after U.S. and Israeli forces carried out large-scale airstrikes inside Iran targeting military infrastructure and senior leadership. In response, Iranian forces and allied militias launched waves of drones and ballistic missiles at American installations across several countries in the Gulf and surrounding region.
Military analysts say at least 17 U.S. sites have been damaged so far, including major installations such as Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. Several embassies and radar systems linked to air-defense networks were also struck, while some American soldiers were reportedly killed in the attacks.
The strikes form part of Tehran’s broader strategy to pressure U.S. forces stationed across the Gulf while demonstrating that American military infrastructure in the region remains vulnerable.
Security experts warn that the widening exchange of attacks could push the Middle East toward a broader regional war, threatening oil supply routes and international stability.
