The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the approved logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on its official platform, following a Federal High Court order directing the commission to recognise and upload the party’s modified symbol.
The development was announced by NDC national leader and former Bayelsa State governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, who said the commission had complied with the court judgment.
The uploaded logo is the NDC’s modified two-finger victory sign, with the party’s name and colours, which the Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered INEC to recognise as the party’s official logo for elections.
The court, in a judgment delivered on September 8 by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, held that INEC’s refusal to approve the modified logo was unconstitutional and illegal. It ordered the commission to approve and immediately upload the design for use by the NDC in elections conducted by INEC.
Dickson welcomed the latest development, commending the judiciary, INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan and officials of the commission for complying with the judgment.
He said the upload would allow NDC candidates to proceed with printing campaign materials and continue consultations and campaign activities with greater certainty ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The logo dispute has been part of a wider legal and administrative battle surrounding the NDC’s registration and electoral identity.
The party was registered by INEC in February 2026 following an earlier court judgment, but subsequent disputes over its logo led to further litigation. The latest Federal High Court ruling specifically affirmed the modified logo adopted by the party’s National Executive Committee.
INEC’s current official party directory also lists the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a recognised and certified political party, with Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe listed as National Chairman and Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as National Secretary, both by court order.
For the NDC, the latest upload removes one immediate obstacle confronting its candidates as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
The development also means NDC candidates can now move forward with campaign branding using the court-recognised and INEC-uploaded logo.
