The Independent National Electoral Commission will on Tuesday brief Nigerians on its preparations for the 2027 general elections as the polls enter the final 100-day countdown.
The commission said the national stakeholders’ meeting and World Press Conference would provide an opportunity to update key actors and the public on its level of preparedness for the elections.
The event is scheduled for 10am at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja and will be addressed by INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other stakeholders.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the commission said its briefing would cover the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to protect the integrity of the electoral process.
“The Commission will provide updates on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and critical measures to ensure the integrity of the electoral process,” INEC said.
The commission said the stakeholders’ meeting was also intended to deepen coordination with institutions and organisations involved in election management and security.
“The national stakeholders’ meeting underlines the Commission’s commitment to absolute transparency, proactive public communication, and collaborative engagement with key actors in the electoral ecosystem,” it said.
Expected participants include political party leaders, security agencies represented on the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations and election observer groups.
The meeting comes as INEC moves into the final phase of preparations for the 2027 polls, with administrative, logistical and technological arrangements expected to be completed ahead of election day.
INEC did not indicate whether changes to the published electoral timetable would be announced at the meeting.
The commission said the proceedings would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed through its official social media platforms to enable wider public participation.
Attendance at the venue will be by invitation, while accredited journalists and invited guests will be required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
