The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The development was reflected on the Commission’s official website on Monday, where a revised list of the opposition party’s national leadership was published.
Among those listed are Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, alongside other officials occupying key positions within the party’s hierarchy.
The emergence of the leadership followed the PDP National Convention held Sunday night at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
At the convention, delegates adopted a consensus arrangement to return members of the National Working Committee after dissolving the National Caretaker Committee.
Other officials listed include Aaron Chukwuemeka and Yusufu Akirikwen as Deputy National Chairmen (South and North respectively), while Kolawale Olabisi was named Deputy National Secretary.
Also named were Odeyemi Oladiran as National Treasurer, Lado Marke as Deputy National Treasurer, Eyim Henry as National Financial Secretary, and Grema Kyari as Deputy.
Umar Bature emerged as National Organising Secretary with Efere Augustine as deputy, while Jungudo Mohammed and Egwu Chidiebere were listed as National Publicity Secretary and Deputy respectively.
Kamaldeen Ajibade was named National Legal Adviser alongside Aloysius Uba as deputy, while Osuoha Donatus and Adaba Seri Yatu were listed as National Auditor and Deputy.
The list further included Ogunshe Adedayo and Hauwa Shinge as National Women Leader and Deputy, as well as Ibrahim Aboki and Momoh Bashir as National Youth Leader and Deputy respectively.
The recognition by INEC is expected to have significant implications for the internal dynamics of the PDP, amid ongoing tensions within the party over leadership and control.
