Nigerian rapper and entertainer, Ice Prince, has stirred widespread reactions on social media after revealing in a viral interview that he allegedly spent more than ₦340 million purchasing cannabis over a six-year period from a single dealer. The statement, made during a podcast conversation, quickly generated debate among fans, critics, and social commentators across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
According to the rapper, his spending on marijuana became a long-term lifestyle habit during the peak years of his music career. The revelation shocked many Nigerians, especially considering the growing conversations around substance abuse, mental health, and celebrity influence on young people.
While some supporters defended the artist’s honesty and openness, others criticized the statement, arguing that public figures should be cautious about comments capable of normalizing drug consumption among youths.
Nigeria’s anti-drug agency, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, has repeatedly warned about the increasing rate of substance abuse among young Nigerians.
The interview has since reignited conversations about celebrity culture, addiction, lifestyle influence, and the role of entertainers in shaping public behavior in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital society.
