For months, the comment sections of Facebook had felt like a political war zone. Loyalists of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and followers of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), had built an agonising wall of division between themselves.
To the average citizen, it was exhausting. Deep down, the true lovers of the party and the state did not want a fight; they desperately hoped for a unified house. They knew that a divided home would only tear down the progress of Ondo and weaken the momentum needed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. But online, the friction just kept growing.
Then came the moment that changed the entire narrative. Hon. Bode Obanla, a major grassroots figure whose voice carries massive weight across Ondo, dropped a Facebook Reel. He did not write a long, complicated political essay; he simply attached a video of the two gladiators together, Aiyedatiwa and Tunji-Ojo, sharing a lighthearted, genuinely happy moment, talking and gisting like the brothers they are. Above the video, Obanla wrote three powerful words: “God is God.”
For the followers who had been secretly praying for peace, those three words were an instant green light to celebrate. Within minutes, the toxic atmosphere evaporated. The very people who had been trading words days prior were now tagging each other, sharing screenshots, and reposting the video on their own timelines. From Ondo North to Ondo South, Facebook pages lit up with delight, and WhatsApp groups were flooded with the video, accompanied by happy commentary across the board. It became a digital carnival of unity.
The trending video proved what the peaceful majority had suspected all along: the relationship between the two leaders was never as fractured or bitter as the loudest social media voices tried to paint it. They simply had different leadership styles, characteristics, and spheres of influence. One steering local state governance and the other handling federal executive reforms.
When it mattered most, these political leaders knew exactly how to align for the greater good. As the video continued to sweep through WhatsApp groups, TikTok, and X, Starnews NG noted a massive shift in the state’s political temperature. The celebration was not just about a nice video; it was about the birth of a formidable, unified front. With the followers finally unified and celebrating the same joy, the path towards 2027 had just become smooth, healthy, and unstoppable for the APC in Ondo State.
