Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara was reportedly advised by an APC screening committee to fulfil an existing political agreement with former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nysom Wike.
According to sources familiar with the meeting, the committee informed the governor that the President insisted that the agreement must be respected, noting that the president was allegedly present as a witness when the arrangement was made.
The development is believed to be connected to ongoing political tensions and reconciliation efforts within Rivers State politics involving loyalists of both Fubara and Wike.
Sources from Rivers State further claimed that Governor Fubara became visibly upset during the meeting and eventually walked out angrily after the discussions.
However, details of the alleged agreement and the exact circumstances surrounding the meeting were not immediately made public as of the time of filing this report.
Neither the Rivers State Government, the Presidency, nor Wike’s camp has officially commented on the claims.
