The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has condemned the reported armed attack on some of its personnel by a security operative in Abuja, describing the incident as unacceptable and a threat to professionalism and inter-agency cooperation among security institutions. (guardian.ng)
The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, urged all security operatives across the country to obey traffic regulations and respect constituted authorities while carrying out their official duties. He stressed that no individual or agency should consider itself above the law, particularly regarding road safety compliance and public conduct.
According to the FRSC, the incident occurred during a routine enforcement operation in Abuja when personnel of the corps were allegedly confronted and attacked by an armed security operative following attempts to enforce traffic regulations.
The agency stated that such actions undermine discipline, public safety, and the rule of law.
The FRSC further called for stronger collaboration among security agencies to promote professionalism, mutual respect, and effective service delivery to Nigerians.
The corps also reiterated its commitment to enforcing traffic laws fairly and professionally without fear or favour.
Observers say the incident has renewed concerns about inter-agency rivalry and the need for greater discipline and accountability among security personnel operating within the country.
