The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has received official governance confirmation and international recognition from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) following its recent electoral process.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, Godspower Odedede, the federation disclosed that a communication dated 27 February 2026 from Lausanne, Switzerland, confirmed that the election which returned the federation’s president complies with Article 1.6 of the FIVB General Regulations.
According to the correspondence from the FIVB Legal Department, the electoral process satisfied all required legal and administrative standards and has been formally recognised by the sport’s global governing body.
The development reinforces the legitimacy, transparency and institutional stability of the current NVBF leadership. It also guarantees Nigeria’s continued good standing within the international volleyball community and secures eligibility to participate in all FIVB-sanctioned continental and global competitions.
The federation reiterated its commitment to strengthening governance structures, expanding grassroots development initiatives, promoting inclusivity and positioning Nigerian volleyball for sustained excellence at both continental and global levels.
The NVBF also expressed appreciation to stakeholders, athletes, coaches, technical officials, sponsors and partners across the country for their continued support.
