Fire Destroys over 20 Houses, Shops in Niger State

A fire outbreak has destroyed more than 20 houses and shops in the Banyagi community of Bida Local Government Area, Niger State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Committee for the Support of Fire Victims, which said the incident occurred in the early hours of the day, leaving widespread destruction in its wake.

According to the statement, the fire destroyed household belongings belonging to more than 20 families, as well as shops, food items, clothing, and other valuables worth millions of naira.

Although no lives were lost in the incident, the committee noted that widows, the elderly, children, and other vulnerable persons were among those most severely affected.

The statement further revealed that relief efforts for the victims have already commenced, while appealing to the government, philanthropists, corporate organizations, and humanitarian agencies to provide additional support to the affected families.
