Fake Agency Scandal: Embattled PFIPC Promoter Goes Offline As Pressure Mounts

The man at the centre of the alleged fake government agency scandal, Adeniyi Adeyemi, has deactivated his social media accounts and taken down websites linked to his activities as pressure from ongoing criminal proceedings continues to mount.

Checks on Saturday showed that Adeyemi’s Facebook account, previously used to project himself as the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), is no longer accessible. Websites linked to his personal profile and investment-related projects have also disappeared from public view.

The development comes days after the Federal Government filed criminal charges against Adeyemi over allegations of forgery, impersonation and operating a non-existent federal agency.

The Presidency had earlier disowned the PFIPC, insisting that no such agency exists under the administration of President Bola Tinubu and that Adeyemi was never appointed to any position connected with it.

Before his online accounts disappeared, Adeyemi regularly shared photographs and posts portraying himself as a senior government official, including images of meetings with diplomats, investors and other public figures. He also promoted a planned World Investment Summit, which he claimed would attract trillions of naira in foreign direct investment.

Investigators are also examining other online platforms previously linked to Adeyemi, some of which reportedly contained claims about international appointments and youth organisations that have since been removed.

The scandal has raised serious concerns over how the alleged fake agency gained access to government institutions, secured office accommodation within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, exchanged official correspondence with federal agencies and reportedly operated bank accounts.

Meanwhile, Adeyemi has denied all allegations against him, insisting he will defend himself in court and prove his innocence.

Security agencies are continuing investigations to determine whether public officials collaborated with him in the alleged operation of the fake agency.
