The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has disowned a letter circulating on social media and falsely attributed to him, insisting the document is fabricated and should be ignored.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the family said the document, titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, did not originate from the former governor.
The statement maintained that both the content and handwriting of the letter were inconsistent with El-Rufai, describing it as a calculated attempt to spread falsehood and create unnecessary political tension.
“The spurious letter, purportedly dated July 14, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, should be disregarded,” the statement said.
The family further condemned the circulation of the document, arguing that it was designed to mislead the public and fuel division within political circles.
“Neither the poor content nor the handwriting has anything to do with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. The fake letter shows another resort to desperation by Mallam’s traducers who seek to sow confusion and division. Their attempt at politics by fakery should be dismissed and condemned,” the statement added.
The controversial letter had questioned the nomination of Isah Ashiru as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, alleging he failed to complete the party’s online membership registration before the stipulated deadline and calling on the party leadership to review the process.
However, El-Rufai’s family insisted the document was entirely false and urged Nigerians to disregard it, stressing that the former governor had no connection with its contents or circulation.
