El-Rufai Accuses Governor Uba Sani of Trying to Destroy His Political Career

By Charles Maduka

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the current governor, Uba Sani, of working against him to ruin his political future. He claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave Governor Sani a secret task to weaken him before the 2027 elections.

El-Rufai made this statement in response to Governor Sani’s remarks about the large debt left behind by the previous administration. Sani had earlier said that Kaduna State’s debt was so high that it would be difficult to repay.

Speaking in an interview with Freedom Radio Kaduna, El-Rufai said Governor Sani’s administration is struggling because he lacks the knowledge and skills to lead. He also alleged that Tinubu’s government is afraid he might oppose them in the future.

“The reason Uba Sani is making these statements is because he was given a job to destroy my political career,” El-Rufai said. “They believe I will challenge Tinubu, so they told him to bring up the issue of Kaduna’s debt to damage my reputation. In return, they promised to support him.”

El-Rufai also claimed that the federal government is giving financial help to Governor Sani for projects in Kaduna and allowing him to misuse funds as a reward for his loyalty.

“They told him, ‘We will continue to give you money for projects, and you can take as much as you want, but make sure you deal with El-Rufai because he is a threat.’ That is the deal Uba Sani accepted,” he alleged.
