Dialogue, Not War – India Pushes for Global Peace

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated India’s commitment to peaceful diplomacy as the preferred solution to global conflicts, stressing that military action alone cannot resolve disputes such as those in Ukraine and West Asia.

Speaking at a joint press briefing with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in New Delhi on March 5, 2026, Modi emphasised that dialogue, respect for the rule of law and diplomatic engagement must guide efforts to end wars and build lasting peace.

Modi said that both India and Finland share a firm belief that “no issue can be resolved through military conflict” and pledged support for “every effort towards peace,” again underscoring New Delhi’s principled stance on global security and conflict resolution. His comments came amid escalating warfare in the Middle East and ongoing hostilities in Eastern Europe, where diplomatic channels have struggled to end prolonged violence.

The remarks also aligned India with European partners in advancing multilateral diplomacy and reform, signalling a broader push for cooperation that favours negotiation over confrontation. Modi’s appeal reflects India’s vision of a rules‑based international order and global stability, even as conflict zones endure.
