Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has stirred reactions online after warning men against taking on financial responsibilities for unemployed partners with expensive lifestyles.
Adeyanju made the remark in a post shared on X Tuesday while commenting on the economic difficulties facing Nigerians.
According to him, the current economic situation is too challenging for individuals to depend heavily on others to meet their financial needs.
He said men should be cautious about entering relationships where they could become responsible for paying the bills of partners whose spending expectations they cannot afford.
Adeyanju wrote: “If the devil wants to punish you as a man, he will give you a jobless Nigerian babe with high taste.
“With the extremely bad economic situation of Nigeria, no one should be relying on another person to pay their bills.
“The country is too hard for you to add a liability to the list.”
His comments have since generated reactions from social media users.
