On 26 February 2026, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, stressed that intelligence-led operations are essential to defeating terrorism, banditry, and other security threats in the country. Speaking at the Defence Ministry headquarters in Abuja, Musa highlighted the growing role of technology and data-driven strategies in modern military operations.

The minister received a delegation from the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), led by Director-General Matthew O. Adepoju, emphasizing that satellite surveillance, radar imaging, and signal analytics are critical tools for monitoring insurgent movements, criminal hideouts, and vulnerable regions in the North-East and Northwest. Musa stated that integrating space-based intelligence into security operations enhances precision and reduces collateral damage.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaboration between defence agencies and technological partners, noting that intelligence-led, proactive measures remain the most effective path to restoring peace and stability across Nigeria’s conflict-affected areas.
