Davido Talks About Friendship With Hushpuppi, Says He May Be Freed Soon

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has spoken about his relationship with Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppi, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the United States for internet fraud.

Davido made the remarks during a podcast interview where he shared his thoughts on Hushpuppi’s situation.

He said that Hushpuppi may be released soon and reflected on how life in Nigeria pushes some people into making desperate choices.

During the chat, Davido admitted he knew Hushpuppi personally and used to see him often, but claimed he had no idea what kind of business he was involved in at the time.

He described Hushpuppi as someone who lived lavishly, which he believes appealed to many young people who are struggling in Nigeria.

Davido said the harsh realities in the country make some individuals feel like quick success, even if short-lived, is worth the risk.

He pointed out that there are people who would rather enjoy a few good years even if it means facing consequences later.

Though he didn’t defend illegal activities, Davido said he understands why some people make those choices and expressed concern for his friend.

He also mentioned that many people in Nigeria are driven by hardship to chase after flashy lifestyles, sometimes without thinking about the long-term effects.

Hushpuppi, who once flaunted a luxurious lifestyle on social media, was arrested in 2020 and later sentenced in the US for online fraud.

His arrest shocked many Nigerians, as he was popular on Instagram for his wealth and designer fashion.
