The mother and daughter involved in a long-standing paternity dispute with Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, have publicly responded to his latest denial, accusing the singer of bullying, threats, and spreading false information.
In posts shared on Instagram late Thursday, 12-year-old Anuoluwapo Mitchelle and her mother, Ayo Labinjoh, challenged Davido’s assertion that he had conducted five DNA tests proving he is not the girl’s father. They insisted that only one test was ever conducted and claimed that it was fraudulent.
Reacting on her Instagram page, Anuoluwapo Mitchelle (@anuadeleke001) said she was devastated by Davido’s response to her earlier appeal for a DNA test. “My dad Mr David Adeleke replied me earlier this evening. I was devastated on the way he cursed me out, bullied me and threatened to lock my mother up simply because I want to establish my identity,” she wrote.
The young girl also accused the singer of changing his account of events. “He also tweeted to the world calling my mom a ‘bitch’ he never met yet claiming he now had 5 DNA tests with me. First it was two, now it’s 5. He even said the last one was on my 10th birthday,” she said. According to Anuoluwapo, only one test was ever performed. “According to my mom, we only went for one test, which… which was fake as posted on her statement pinned on top of this page,” she added.
Anuoluwapo thanked Nigerians and the media for their support, noting that her mother has moved on and does not appreciate the spread of false information. She promised that her mother would share relevant chat messages to clarify the situation further.
In a separate post, Ayo Labinjoh also rejected Davido’s comments and language, insisting she is not his “baby mama.” “First things first, my name is Ayo Labinjoh. I’m not Davido’s baby mama or a bitch,” she wrote, adding that she is highly protective of her daughter’s mental health following years of bullying.
Labinjoh described the severe impact the controversy has had on her daughter, saying that she “cried for days, fainted in school and went through psychotherapy.” She challenged Davido’s claims regarding the number of DNA tests conducted, stating, “Last time it was his lawyer who brainwashed Nigerians that there were 2 tests done and I chose the hospital… They lied that we did two tests, now 5, and he’s never met me.”
She also alleged that the laboratory process was compromised and that the blood sample was never actually tested. Labinjoh accused Davido of directly harassing her daughter, revealing that he had threatened to have her arrested. “David chatted my daughter tonight threatening to lock me up,” she said. She added that she would seek international oversight if another DNA test is to be conducted, suggesting that the US State Department supervise the process.
The latest exchange follows previous statements from Davido, in which he categorically denied paternity, claiming on Instagram and X that he had taken “5 DNA tests, all negative,” and asserting, “I am not your father.” The singer maintained that he has never had a personal relationship with Labinjoh outside of the DNA testing process, calling the ongoing claims “nonsense.”
This dispute, which dates back to 2017, has again drawn widespread public attention, with both sides presenting sharply differing accounts of the DNA testing and their past interactions. The controversy continues to fuel debate online and among fans about celebrity paternity claims and the challenges faced by those involved in public disputes.
