Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has joined billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote at New York’s iconic Times Square as the Dangote Petroleum Refinery takes its investment campaign to the global stage.
The duo were spotted together on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, beneath a giant Nasdaq digital billboard displaying the message, “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.” Davido shared a video of the moment on his Instagram Story, attracting widespread attention online.
The Times Square appearance forms part of the promotional campaign for the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO), which opened on September 14 and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.
The public offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares. If fully subscribed, the offer is expected to raise about ₦2.15 trillion.
Dangote has described the offering as an “IPO for the people,” aimed at allowing ordinary Nigerians and eligible African investors to acquire stakes in the refinery.
The appearance also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Davido and Dangote. Davido has previously described the billionaire as a close family friend who has offered him advice since childhood.
The Times Square moment has since sparked reactions online, with Nigerians celebrating the global visibility given to a major Nigerian industrial project.
