The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo has risen to 4,449, with 2,061 deaths recorded, according to government data released late Tuesday.
The development was reported by Reuters on Wednesday, citing the latest government figures on the outbreak.
The increase in cases comes as health authorities and aid agencies intensify efforts to contain the outbreak, which involves the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus.
The latest figures indicate that the outbreak remains a major public health concern in the country, with the number of fatalities continuing to rise alongside confirmed infections.
