Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has officially defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and clinched the party’s governorship ticket in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Pantami emerged as the PDP governorship candidate through a voice affirmation by party members during the primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe.
PDP Electoral Panel Chairman Gregory Yenlong confirmed him as the winner, noting that he contested as the sole aspirant.
Speaking after his emergence, Pantami said his decision to contest was driven by a desire to serve the people of Gombe State. He also pledged to govern with fairness, justice, and inclusiveness if elected.
The development has sparked widespread attention, as reactions continue to trail his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.
