BREAKING: Fire Razes UCH Block in Ibadan

 

A Section Of The University Teaching Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, was gutted by fire on Saturday.

According to a viral video seen by starnews emergency responders are on the ground to contain the fire.

General manager, Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Akinyinka Akinyemi, had in April 2023 confirmed a fire incidence in one of the residential blocks at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday.

No life was recorded lost in the inferno just as the cause of the disaster was not confirmed as at press time. It was learnt that the incident happened around 5 pm.

He said the fire started around 5pm and the service was alerted around 5:38pm.

According to him, “Yes, it was true, one of the residential blocks at UCH, Ibadan, caught fire around 5pm but we were called by 5:38 pm through one Mrs. Motunrayo. The fire was completely extinguished around 7:27pm.”

An eyewitness, who did not want her name on print said many variables were lost to the inferno but declined further comment.
