AFC Bournemouth have suspended defender Alex Jimenez pending an investigation into social media posts linked to the player.
The Premier League club confirmed on Friday that the 21-year-old Spaniard will not be part of the squad for Saturday’s league clash against Fulham FC.
In a statement, Bournemouth said the club was aware of the posts circulating online involving the right-back and described the matter as serious.
The club added that investigations were ongoing and declined to make further comments for the time being.
Jimenez joined Bournemouth from AC Milan last summer on an initial loan deal before making the move permanent in February with a contract running until 2031.
The Spanish defender has made 32 appearances for Bournemouth this season and scored once, notably in the club’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool FC.
