Aye Kingdom, an agrarian Community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, is gearing up for its much-anticipated Layelu Day Celebration, an annual event that has been a tradition for thirty-nine years.
This was disclosed yesterday in a statement signed by Chief Henry Olatujoye, the President of FUSION OF AYE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATIONS (FOADA).
He said that the theme of this year’s celebration is “Going Forward.”
He added that the celebration reflects the kingdom’s determination to continue with the development of the community in the face of challenges, with a firm commitment to the land, people, and the kingdom.
“This week-long event culminates in Layelu Day, uniting the Sons and Daughters of the kingdom who come from near and far to collaborate on the development of Aye community.
“Aye Kingdom is the second-largest community after Okitipupa town in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. The economic and administrative center of Aye kingdom which holds a central position within the kingdom is called Ode-Aye,” the statement said.
Adding that over the years, “Aye Kingdom has undertaken significant developmental projects, including the construction of the Layelu Hall, the ongoing development of the Oba’s Palace, the establishment of Layelu Microfinance Bank Limited, funding for the Aye Skill Acquisition Centre, the operation of a community library, and more.
“The Fusion of Aye Development Associations (FOADA), the umbrella organization representing all Associations and Unions in the Aye Kingdom, has played a crucial role in supporting community development.
“They financed the grading of township roads, engaged youths in discussions about security, and supported educational development for secondary school students preparing for their final exams.
“This year’s celebration promises a variety of activities that showcase the kingdom’s musical culture, including a friendly football match final, interactive sessions for community leaders to discuss development, a lecture on alternative dispute resolution, and a seminar on youth development. Additionally, there will be a special program focused on ladies and women’s awareness.
“The grand finale on Saturday at the Layelu Hall grounds in Ode-Aye will be a celebration of the kingdom’s royalty, culture, and tradition, with donations for developmental projects by the Sons and Daughters of the kingdom,” the statement said.
Starnews Nigeria reports that Sunday, November 12, 2023, will be a thanksgiving service at the Cherubim and Seraphim Zion Church in Ode-Aye.
