A recent economic report has revealed that the average salary earned by many Nigerian workers ranges between ₦150,000 and ₦300,000 monthly, depending on sector, location, qualification, and job role.
The report highlights the growing struggle of workers trying to cope with rising inflation, high living costs, and economic uncertainty across the country.
According to findings published by the Nigerian edition of The Guardian Nigeria, workers in sectors such as oil and gas, banking, telecommunications, and technology generally earn higher salaries than employees in education, agriculture, and the public sector.
The report further noted that most Nigerians in the informal sector earn far below the estimated average wage figures.
Economic analysts say the value of salaries has been severely weakened by inflation and the depreciation of the naira, making survival increasingly difficult for many households. In major cities like Lagos and Abuja, transportation, rent, electricity, healthcare, and food expenses continue to consume a large portion of workers’ income.
The report also emphasized that while some professionals earn comfortable incomes, millions of Nigerians still rely on side businesses and multiple sources of income to survive the country’s harsh economic realities.
