Arsenal have been crowned 2025/26 Premier League champions, ending a 22-year wait for the English top-flight title after Manchester City were held to a dramatic draw by Bournemouth.
The decisive moment came on Tuesday night when Pep Guardiola’s side failed to secure victory at the Vitality Stadium, drawing 1-1 in a result that confirmed Arsenal as champions with one match still remaining.
Erling Haaland’s stoppage-time equaliser rescued a point for City after Eli Junior Kroupi had given Bournemouth a first-half lead, but it was not enough to keep the title race alive.
Arsenal, who had already done their part with a 1-0 win over relegated Burnley courtesy of Kai Havertz’s first-half strike, remain on 82 points and are now mathematically unreachable.
The Gunners’ triumph brings an end to one of the longest title droughts in the club’s history, stretching back to Arsène Wenger’s legendary Invincibles side of the 2003/04 season.
The campaign has been defined by consistency and defensive strength under Mikel Arteta, with Arsenal recording 19 clean sheets and maintaining pressure at the top of the table throughout the season.
Despite earlier setbacks including a crucial defeat to City that briefly opened the race the London side responded with a run of four consecutive league wins without conceding.
Celebrations erupted among supporters in north London as news filtered through, with fans gathering across the city to mark the long-awaited triumph.
Beyond the Premier League success, Arsenal still have the opportunity to complete a historic double, with a Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest scheduled for May 30.
If they secure European glory, it would mark one of the most successful seasons in the club’s modern history.
The Premier League trophy is expected to be officially lifted after Arsenal’s final match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, bringing the curtain down on a landmark campaign for Arteta and his players.
