Patron of the APC Renewed Hope Project 2027 South-West Zone and Grand Patron of the Renewed Hope Project 2027 Ondo State, Bosun Arebuwa, FCA, has congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, describing the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey while looking ahead to a stronger and more prosperous nation.
Arebuwa, in his Independence Day message on Thursday, October 1, 2026, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a determined effort to reposition the Nigerian economy through far-reaching reforms.
His message followed President Tinubu’s nationwide Independence Day address, in which the President said Nigeria had moved beyond the difficult phase of economic reforms and was entering what he described as an “age of prosperity”, with greater emphasis on jobs, production, lower living costs and shared prosperity.
Arebuwa said the President’s reform agenda represented a significant effort to address longstanding structural challenges confronting the Nigerian economy, while acknowledging that the transition had come with difficulties for citizens.
According to him, Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary should inspire renewed confidence, unity and commitment among citizens as the country works towards unlocking its economic potential.
He noted that President Tinubu’s address highlighted improvements in areas including economic growth, foreign reserves, foreign exchange stability, non-oil exports, infrastructure, agriculture, enterprise and social support.
The President stated that Nigeria’s economy had grown by more than four per cent in 2026, while inflation had fallen from its peak and foreign reserves had been rebuilt. He also pointed to record non-oil export revenue of more than $6 billion in 2025.
Arebuwa said such developments should be sustained through policies that encourage production, attract investment, create employment and improve opportunities for young Nigerians.
He particularly welcomed the administration’s emphasis on agriculture, industrialisation, infrastructure, digital connectivity and support for businesses, noting that these areas are critical to building an economy capable of providing sustainable opportunities for the country’s growing population.
“Independence is not only about celebrating our past; it is also about taking responsibility for the Nigeria we want to build,” Arebuwa said in his message.
He urged Nigerians to remain united and constructive in their engagement with the country’s development process, stressing the need for collective responsibility from government, the private sector, civil society, traditional institutions and citizens.
The APC Renewed Hope Project 2027 South-West Patron also called on Nigerians to continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the economy and improving the welfare of citizens, while encouraging governments at all levels to remain responsive to the challenges facing ordinary Nigerians.
Arebuwa said the 66th anniversary provided an opportunity for Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and work collectively towards a more secure, productive and prosperous future.
He congratulated President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the National Assembly, state governors and Nigerians across the country, wishing the nation continued peace, stability and development.
President Tinubu, in his Independence Day address, said the next phase of his administration would focus on translating economic reforms into broader prosperity, including lower production and transportation costs, increased agricultural output, industrial growth and productive employment.
Arebuwa urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of the anniversary by putting national interest, peaceful coexistence and economic progress at the centre of the country’s collective efforts.
