The National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from various senatorial direct primary election results reportedly being announced across several states, describing them as unauthorized and not reflective of the party’s official position.
In a disclaimer issued by the Office of the National Chairman on Monday, the party said its attention had been drawn to the circulation and announcement of results from senatorial direct primaries despite existing directives prohibiting such action.
According to the statement, the unauthorized announcements violate the established position of the APC National Secretariat and the directive of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The party explained that the NWC had expressly instructed that no results should be announced at any senatorial level until they undergo formal review, verification, and approval by the appropriate committee.
The statement urged party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard any results currently being speculated upon or circulated, stressing that such figures do not represent the official decision of the party.
APC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible electoral process, assuring stakeholders that authentic results would be communicated officially upon the completion of the exercise.
The statement was signed by Hon. Albukareem Bala Kwali, Chief of Staff to the National Chairman.
