Elder Bosun Arebuwa, has mourned the victims of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State, describing the tragedy as a painful loss to the state and the entire country.

The aircraft crashed on Monday near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, while reportedly on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos. Initial official information indicated that 32 people, comprising 25 passengers and seven crew members, were on board.

In a condolence message issued on Tuesday through his Media Director, Bosun Arebuwa FCA said the incident had left families, friends and loved ones devastated, stressing that the loss was not only a tragedy for Ondo State but a national calamity.

He urged the bereaved families to remain strong in the face of the painful development, saying they should draw strength from their faith and find solace in God during the difficult period.

The APC chieftain, who previously contested the Ondo State governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, described the deceased as citizens whose lives and service had contributed to the nation.

Bosun Arebuwa commended the Federal Government for its swift response to the incident, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.

He also welcomed the President’s declaration of a three-day national mourning period and directive for national flags to be flown at half-mast across the country in honour of the victims.

According to him, the measures demonstrated the seriousness with which the Federal Government viewed the tragedy and provided an opportunity for Nigerians to collectively honour those who lost their lives.

He further commended the Nigerian Air Force, first responders and the Ondo State Government for their efforts following the crash.

The Renewed Hope Project patron prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked God to grant their families, colleagues, friends and the Nigerian Air Force the strength to bear the loss.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, following the President’s directive for the Nigerian Air Force to conduct a thorough probe into the incident and establish what led to the tragedy.
