Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has warned that any future Iranian leader who seeks Israel’s destruction will face the same fate as former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli strike earlier this year.
Speaking on Monday as Khamenei’s funeral procession took place in Tehran, Katz said the late Iranian leader was targeted because he had orchestrated plans aimed at destroying Israel.
“The destroyer has been destroyed,” Katz said, adding that any Iranian leader who revives such plans would also be eliminated.
Katz also condemned chants and calls for retaliation against US President Donald Trump during the funeral ceremonies, describing them as shameful and evidence of the Iranian regime’s true intentions.
According to the Israeli minister, the joint military campaign by Israel and the United States significantly weakened Iran’s strategic capabilities and removed what he described as an immediate threat to Israel’s security.
However, he stressed that Israel remains on high alert and is prepared to respond to any future threat at any time.
