Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been sent back to the Suleja Correctional Facility after she was unable to fulfill the bail conditions that had been granted to her in relation to an ongoing cybercrime case.
This development adds another layer to a situation that has garnered considerable public interest since her initial arrest.
Reports from Tuesday indicate that the actress was granted bail following her arraignment but failed to meet the specific requirements for her release within the designated timeframe.
Consequently, she has been returned to custody until she can satisfy those conditions or receive further instructions from the court.
The court had set bail at five million naira, requiring one surety of the same amount, and specified that the surety must meet certain verification criteria before Okorie could be released.
Until these conditions are fully met and confirmed by the court, Angela Okorie must remain in the correctional facility.
This case originated from a petition filed by fellow actress Mercy Johnson Okojie, which prompted an investigation by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre. Angela Okorie was arrested in Lagos and later moved to Abuja, where she faced formal charges in the Federal High Court.
Initially taken into custody by the Cybercrime Centre, Okorie was subsequently transferred to Abuja for legal proceedings.
The case is believed to involve alleged online misconduct, although the specific charges have not been fully disclosed to the public as of the time of this report. Authorities have assured that due process is being followed.
