The Acting United States Secretary of the Navy, Hung Cao, has issued a direct message to sailors and Marines, reaffirming his commitment to their welfare and the mission of the force.
In his remarks, Cao stressed that supporting personnel would remain his top priority. “My priorities, first and foremost, is to take care of you,” he said. “We will take care of your needs, make sure you can do the mission.”
He also outlined key strategic objectives, including strengthening naval capabilities through shipbuilding and maintaining focus on national defense. “Second, we’re going to build ships. We need the platforms we need to defend this country. And finally, it’s to defend the homeland. Our mission has not changed and we’re gonna keep driving on with our mission,” he stated.
Cao concluded with a message aimed at fostering unity and trust within the ranks: “I’m never above you, never below you I’m always beside you. Semper Fi, and Hoo-Yah.”
A Vietnamese refugee and a 25-year Navy veteran with special operations experience, Cao now leads the Department of the Navy under the administration of Donald Trump.
Observers say the message reflects an early effort to boost morale while reinforcing the Navy’s enduring mission to defend the United States.
