The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted Air Algérie, Algeria’s national airline, a Foreign Carrier Operating Permit (FCOP), allowing it to commence flight operations to Nigeria.
The permit was officially presented during a meeting between Chris Najomo, Director-General of NCAA, and Hocine Mezoued, the Algerian ambassador to Nigeria.
“A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a Foreign Carrier Operating Permit (FCOP) to Air Algérie, the national airline of Algeria, enabling expanded connectivity, fostering economic ties, and strengthening mutual partnership,” NCAA said in a statement.
The agency also confirmed that a new flight route connecting Algeria–Nigeria–Douala, Cameroon has been approved.
The inaugural flight on the route is scheduled for April 6, marking a significant step toward improved air travel and stronger diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Algeria.
