The Adamawa State Government has announced a 10-day verification exercise targeting 4,874 civil servants whose salaries have reportedly shown discrepancies in the state payroll system. The initiative is being coordinated by the state civil service authorities under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as part of efforts to restore transparency and accountability in the public service.
The verification exercise is scheduled to take place in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, and across relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) where the affected workers are employed. Officials said the process will involve the physical screening of employees, validation of records, and confirmation of salary structures to determine the source of inconsistencies in payments.
According to government sources, the action became necessary after internal payroll reviews uncovered irregularities affecting thousands of workers, including underpayments, overpayments, and data mismatches within the civil service system. The authorities believe the exercise will help correct these anomalies and ensure that legitimate workers receive their rightful salaries.
The verification also reflects the state government’s broader reform agenda aimed at sanitising the payroll system and preventing administrative lapses that often undermine efficient public sector management.
