The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Barrister Idris Shuaibu, has announced that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has aligned himself with the APC and is only waiting for an official declaration, which is expected shortly.
Shuaibu made this statement at the APC state secretariat in Yola while welcoming Engineer Diaulhaq Abubakar, who has officially announced his intention to run for the governorship in the 2027 election under the party’s banner.
According to the APC chairman, Governor Fintiri’s transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC is effectively finalized. “Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is already part of our party. What remains is the formal announcement,” Shuaibu stated, adding that this declaration is anticipated to occur between now and mid-month, unless unforeseen events arise.
He also mentioned that the APC is preparing for its convention, which is set to take place on or before the 20th of this month, with plans in place to officially welcome the governor and his supporters prior to the event. Shuaibu emphasized that thorough consultations have been conducted to ensure a smooth integration of the governor and his political allies into the party.
While welcoming Engineer Diaulhaq Abubakar, the chairman assured all new members of equal opportunities within the APC, emphasizing that dedication, loyalty, and commitment—not seniority—are the key values in the party.
Shuaibu expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects at the national level, praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a proven and results-driven leader. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated his capabilities and remains the best choice for Nigeria,” he remarked.
He noted that Engineer Diaulhaq Abubakar is the 15th candidate to express interest in contesting for the Dougeri Government House ahead of the 2027 governorship election, a sign of the APC’s growing strength and appeal in Adamawa State.
In an interview with reporters, Engineer Diaulhaq stated that his decision to run is motivated by a commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and governance focused on the people.
He promised to enhance internally generated revenue, invest in essential infrastructure, expand skills acquisition programs for youth and women, and ensure balanced development throughout Adamawa State.
“I have a clear vision for inclusive development and a strong commitment to building a better Adamawa for everyone,” he declared.
