The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking to provide gratuity and death benefits for traditional rulers in the state.
The bill, which amends the Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) (Amendment) Law, 2024, was passed during Monday’s plenary.
Its passage followed the consideration and adoption of a report by the House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, chaired by Kefas Calvin, representing Toungo Constituency.
Calvin commended Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for sponsoring the bill.
The Majority Leader, Kate Raymond Mamuno, representing Demsa Constituency, subsequently moved for the passage of the bill. The motion was seconded by Musa Mahmud Kallamu of Mayo Belwa Constituency.
The bill will now be forwarded to Governor Fintiri for assent.
