The Federal Government has announced plans to facilitate the return of another 65 Nigerians from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, amid renewed concerns over discrimination and attacks against foreigners in the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the returnees, whose repatriation was sponsored by private individuals, are expected to depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 3:30pm local time aboard South African Airways.
The ministry said the group is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8:45pm on the same day.
The statement read, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways.”
The latest repatriation comes against the backdrop of recent reports of anti-foreigner attacks and discrimination targeting African migrants in parts of South Africa.
The Federal Government had last week announced the return of 83 Nigerians from the country, with that batch also receiving financial support from public-spirited private individuals.
