A 25-year-old amateur boxer, identified as Kehinde and popularly known as KBlaq, has died after being stabbed in the neck during a confrontation at Olodo Garage in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, November 1, and has sparked outrage among residents and social media users demanding justice.
Initial reports linked the violence to a disagreement over an agreed transport fare between the deceased and a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as an Okada rider. However, accounts circulating online differ over how the confrontation began and whether Kehinde was involved in the original fight.
According to reports published by Punch, some witnesses and social media users alleged that the initial confrontation had ended before another man approached and stabbed Kehinde with a broken bottle. These claims have not been fully established by the police.
The boxer reportedly sustained a fatal neck injury and died following the attack.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the matter was under investigation.
The killing has also disrupted commercial activities around Olodo Garage. Reports indicate that some commercial motorcyclists withdrew their services amid fears of possible reprisal attacks, leaving commuters struggling to find alternative transportation.
As residents mourn the young boxer, calls are growing for the authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and ensure that anyone found responsible faces the law.
The police investigation is ongoing, and the identity of the suspected attacker has not been officially confirmed in the reports reviewed.
