The wife of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Titi Atiku Abubakar, has expressed confidence that Nigerians will demand her husband’s re-election after his first term if he wins the 2027 presidential election.
Titi made the declaration while campaigning for Atiku’s presidential bid, urging Nigerians to give him the opportunity to lead the country and implement his plans for economic transformation and better governance.
She said she was confident that the performance of an Atiku administration would be strong enough to convince Nigerians to ask him to remain in office beyond his first four-year term.
Her comments come as Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), intensifies his campaign ahead of the 2027 election. He has positioned himself as an alternative to the Bola Tinubu administration and has criticised the government over economic hardship, insecurity and the management of public resources.
Atiku has also recently promised to restore petrol subsidy if elected, arguing that Nigerians have not seen sufficient benefits from its removal.
The statement by his wife adds another layer to the growing political contest ahead of 2027, as opposition candidates seek to convince voters that they can provide better leadership.
