The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has launched a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, to support the reelection campaign of President Bola Tinubu.
The station is situated within the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This initiative comes as political activities ramp up for President Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid in the South-South region. The radio station was inaugurated by Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State.
Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, shared a video of the inauguration event held at the Rivers State Secretariat of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt.
Majority FM 89.5 features multiple studios for interviews and a maintenance unit.
During the event, Wike expressed that the radio station is a demonstration of support for President Tinubu’s goals.
“It’s not in the newspapers. Our commitment shows that we are indeed working for President Ahmed Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to rally support for him; we have the capability to organize ourselves independently.
“There are no governors present here. We have senators, assembly members, council chairmen, national assembly representatives, and party leaders from both the APC and PDP.
“We have come together to pledge our support because if you claim to back someone, you shouldn’t wait for them to provide resources. You must take the initiative, and that’s what our leaders have done. I want to thank all of you once again,” Wike stated.
Last week, Wike warned that he and his supporters would forcibly enter the Yakubu Gowon Stadium for their next rally if the Rivers State Government continues to deny them access, asserting that “nothing will happen” if the facility is damaged.
He made this statement in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of senatorial and local government coordinators for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, an event aimed at supporting President Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike mentioned that his group had formally requested permission from the state government to use the Yakubu Gowon Stadium but was denied access, calling this refusal unprecedented.
“We applied to the state government to use the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, and they turned us down. If we apply again and are refused, we will take it by force, and nothing will happen,” Wike declared.
He asserted that Rivers State is leading the way in political mobilization and will continue to set an example in showing support for the President.
