Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accused the governors of Imo and Kwara states, Hope Uzodinma and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, of working against him politically.
Wike made the allegation on Wednesday during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he discussed his relationships with some All Progressives Congress governors.
The former Rivers State governor particularly accused Abdulrazaq of leading what he described as a campaign against him.
“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” Wike said.
He also claimed that Abdulrazaq had accused him of supporting candidates opposed to the governor’s preferred choices in Kwara State.
Wike, however, argued that the governor should appreciate his role in providing a political platform for some aggrieved APC members who moved to the Peoples Democratic Party rather than joining the coalition opposed to President Bola Tinubu.
The minister also spoke about his strained relationship with Uzodinma, recalling that the Imo governor had at some point declined to support him.
“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike said.
Despite the disagreements, Wike maintained that his political priority remains the re-election of Tinubu in 2027.
He said personal differences with the governors would not distract him from supporting the President’s political ambition.
Wike also challenged those accusing him of working against APC governors to identify the support they had given him during his own political battles.
“Any Nigerian who knows me know that I have never hidden my intention,” he said.
