Why I No Longer Move with an Entourage – Davido

By Paul Joseph

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he deliberately reduced the number of people in his entourage to focus more on his family responsibilities after getting married.

The award-winning singer made the disclosure in an interview with Vibe Magazine ahead of the release of his sixth studio album, Oriadé, saying the decision has helped him create a more balanced home and work life.

According to Davido, marriage significantly changed his lifestyle and influenced his decision to keep a smaller circle around him.

“Now I live with the kids and my wife. I can’t have 100 people in my house like before,” he said.

He explained that scaling down his entourage has enabled him to devote more attention to his family while maintaining a more productive environment for his career.

Despite reducing the number of people around him, Davido stressed that he has not abandoned his longtime friends. Instead, he said he has empowered many of them financially by helping them establish businesses and become self-reliant.

The singer noted that he encourages members of his circle to pursue business opportunities and provides financial support to help them succeed.

Davido also disclosed that he rewards individuals who introduce business opportunities to him, saying he believes those who contribute to his success should benefit from it.

“If you bring a deal for me, you’ll get your 10 per cent. I don’t care if it’s a $4 million deal—you deserve your commission if you brought the opportunity,” he said.

His latest album, Oriadé, was released on July 31, adding another chapter to his growing catalogue of Afrobeats hits.
