London-based blogger and CEO of GIO TV, Maureen Badejo, has successfully partnered with the GIO TV Foundation to provide essential food supplies to the widows and elderly residents of her hometown, Ode Aye, located in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
This year’s initiative, held on December 30, 2025, marked the seventh edition of the annual event and was particularly noteworthy for its scale, distributing food packages to 1,000 individuals.
The gathering took place at Ode Aye town hall, where participants received repackaged bags filled with staple food items, including rice, garri, vegetable oil, salt, Maggi cubes, and Indomie noodles. This year’s distribution significantly increased from the previous year’s event, which had provided 600 food packages, alongside 20 school bags for students and 607 takeaway plates of food.
Maureen expressed her dedication to community welfare, stating, “My primary focus is to uplift my community, especially during times when government resources fall short. I want to emphasize that this initiative is completely non-political; I have no intention of engaging in politics now or in the future. My goal is solely to assist vulnerable individuals, including widows, the elderly, and those facing hardship in my hometown.”
The food items were carefully packaged in branded sacks adorned with the GIO TV logo, symbolizing the commitment to supporting the community. The atmosphere of the event was vibrant, enhanced by a DJ who provided traditional music entertainment, making it a memorable occasion for all attendees.
This event was executed with precision, resulting in a smooth operation without any reports of stampedes or injuries.
