Prominent social media personality and rights activist, Martyn Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, on Monday led a large-scale protest in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, demanding urgent government action over the abduction of schoolchildren and their teachers in the state.
The demonstration drew hundreds of residents who joined the activist in calling on security agencies and government authorities to intensify efforts toward securing the release of the victims.
The protesters marched through major roads in Ibadan before converging on the Oyo State Government House, where they demanded immediate intervention from both the state and federal governments.
Carrying placards with various inscriptions and chanting solidarity songs, the demonstrators expressed concern over the worsening security situation and the continued captivity of the victims.
Addressing the crowd, VeryDarkMan criticised what he described as the slow pace of rescue efforts, insisting that the lives of the abducted children and their teachers must be treated as a matter of national urgency.
He called on the government to deploy all available security and intelligence resources to ensure the safe return of the victims, stressing that parents and families had endured enough trauma since the incident occurred.
The activist further questioned the effectiveness of existing security measures and urged authorities to take decisive steps to prevent future attacks on schools and educational institutions.
