VeryDarkMan Explains Why His Relationship With Davido Broke Down

By George Omagbemi Sylvester

Controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has opened up on the circumstances that led to the breakdown of his relationship with Afrobeats superstar Davido, revealing that their once cordial friendship deteriorated over political differences and personal principles.

Speaking in a viral video, VeryDarkMan claimed that Davido and members of his team allegedly approached him with an offer of ₦50 million to campaign for the singer’s uncle during a political contest.

He said he rejected the offer because he did not want his activism and public commentary to be influenced by political interests, insisting that he preferred to remain independent.

According to VDM, his refusal to participate in the campaign created tension between both parties and gradually strained their relationship.

He maintained that he harbours no personal resentment towards Davido but believes that his credibility depends on remaining true to his convictions rather than accepting financial inducements or political patronage.

The revelation has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with supporters and critics debating the activist’s claims and the implications for his relationship with the award-winning musician.

As of the time of reporting, Davido has not publicly responded to the allegations or VDM’s account of their reported fallout.
