The United States military has carried out another wave of airstrikes against Iranian military facilities, targeting key surveillance, air defence and missile infrastructure as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest operation was launched at about 11:30 p.m. ET on July 18 under the direction of the US president, marking the eighth consecutive night of military action against Iranian targets.
CENTCOM said the strikes hit coastal surveillance and air defence facilities, maritime assets, and missile and drone storage sites.
The operation also targeted members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), whom the US military accused of being responsible for attacks that killed and injured American service members in Jordan on July 17.
The command added that more than 50,000 US troops remain deployed across the Middle East, describing the force as “highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready” to respond to any emerging threats.
The latest strikes underscore the deepening military confrontation between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns over the potential for a wider regional conflict.
