Members of the United States delegation, including President Donald Trump, reportedly disposed of all items issued to them during their visit to China before boarding Air Force One at the conclusion of the trip.
According to reports, accreditation tags, disposable mobile phones, visitor badges, and other materials provided by Chinese officials were thrown into designated trash bins positioned near the aircraft staircase as the delegation prepared to depart.
The move was said to be part of strict cybersecurity and counterintelligence protocols adopted by the US government during high-level foreign visits, particularly in countries considered sensitive from a technological and intelligence standpoint.
Sources familiar with the security arrangements disclosed that the American delegation relied exclusively on temporary “burner” phones throughout the trip to minimize the risk of surveillance, hacking, or data compromise.
Personal electronic devices belonging to officials were reportedly kept onboard Air Force One inside specially designed Faraday bags capable of blocking wireless signals and preventing unauthorized access or tracking.
Security experts say such precautions are increasingly common during diplomatic visits involving strategic rivals, as governments intensify efforts to protect classified communications and sensitive data from cyber espionage threats.
