Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed claims by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that his life is under threat, insisting that no one is plotting against the former Anambra State governor.
Speaking on Friday during an inspection of ongoing federal road projects in Ebonyi State, Umahi described Obi’s remarks as a reflection of political frustration rather than reality.
“Nobody wants Obi dead; it’s not reasonable. We all want him alive to contest the election and watch himself lose again,” the minister said.
Umahi argued that the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure projects and increased federal presence in the South-East have weakened Obi’s political influence in the region.
According to him, the visible development across the zone has convinced many residents that supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration is more beneficial than engaging in what he described as “artificial intelligence kind of politics.”
The minister also challenged Obi to a public debate on the achievements of the current administration, particularly its infrastructure and development initiatives in the South-East.
He maintained that the region has witnessed unprecedented inclusion under President Tinubu and urged the people to support the administration’s efforts to sustain ongoing projects and national development.
