UK Restricts Airspace Ahead of President Tinubu’s State Visit

The United Kingdom has announced temporary restrictions on its airspace in preparation for the upcoming state visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of Nigeria.

The directive issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), is set to take effect on Thursday, March 12, 2026, to ensure the safety and security of the presidential delegation during official engagements in London.

Officials stated that the temporary airspace restrictions are standard security protocol observed during visits of foreign heads of state. The measure covers selected flight corridors and will require airlines operating in and out of London airports to adjust flight plans accordingly.

The Nigerian president is expected to hold bilateral talks with UK leaders, attend official ceremonies, and engage with the Nigerian diaspora during the visit. Security analysts say such restrictions are common for high-profile state visits and aim to prevent potential aerial threats while ensuring smooth transit of the visiting head of state.

The announcement has been widely shared among international airlines and travel operators, with passengers advised to monitor updates from the CAA to avoid disruptions.
