The United Kingdom and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency, pledging enhanced collaboration with the country’s armed forces.
The assurance was given during a visit by Tom Harper, defence attaché of the United Kingdom, and Boris Bovecamp, his German counterpart, to the headquarters of the Joint Task Force (JTF) theatre command in Maiduguri.
In a statement issued by Sani Uba, media information officer of the north-east joint task force, codenamed Operation Hadin Kai, the foreign defence officials expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in counter-terrorism operations.
Harper highlighted the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, noting shared commitments to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts in combating insurgency in the North-East and reaffirmed the UK’
